I like that smudge-like effect~ It makes it look like he's evaporating awayyyy~.... Or something. What were you trying to convey in that? =o

I find this pretty sweet~ Love the shading... The background seems a little plain... I like your sky though. You probably could've put the horizon a little higher and added... idk mountains or something... just to make it look less... flat? lololImbadatfindingwords

I'm with Toast on the paws, they're definitely really small :x especially the back ones. They're a little oddly curved in the back, too... For the front-left one, I think the ankle would bend the other way as it's pushing on the ground. The paws could also be a little broader. While I'm on anatomy... Might just be me, but he seems a little fat

Emphasize on the Might-just-be-me part *-*;;

Your lineart is a little unbalanced also, with thick lines on the eyes and face and nonexistant lines on the torso and tail. It would've been better if you kept it steady all the way through, or at least make the lines on the face lighter.

Sorry if I sound harsh D: I tend to be nitpicky, but they're just suggestions to take into account *0*; The more nitpicky my crits, that just means the better you did ;D xD

Love the wonderful gradient on the sky and the great grass texture. I would've liked to see stronger shadows on the character itself, but overall really nice ^^

ALRIGHTY THEN, CRIT TIME!!

Wellll my human anatomy isn't the bestttt so I'll just point out the obvious.

Well, it's pretty apparent that your style is very anime-ish, however it reminds me more of dolls. The...entire body is out of proportion to the rest of the body. :I
The head and neck sizes bother me the most.
Stylization, I knowwww but anatomy must be studied upon BEFORE stylization.
I know.
I've had problems with it before.
And I'm guessing you're hiding those toesies with the sand? Wellll it doesn't work that way. You should be able to see more of that foot, and maybe just a little of the toes. Right now it looks more like a blanket, less like tiny grains of rock.
The way the subject is sitting makes it look more like she's floating than sitting on the swing...And the expression...leaves much to be desired, but that's just my personal preference, really.

The grass could've had more effort put into it, but I'm no good at grass so lkdfjlfkj

Also, I agree with Anne on the shading depth...and that gradient homg.

Other than that, I say borderline/third tryout maybe?
More study and practice on human anatomy could do you some good, hon. <3

This one is better than your other one.
I think it needs more dark shadows and could use some anatomy work such as minimizing the headsize, arm length and body size. Just make things a little more proportional. It's interesting what you did with the grass but lineart you put there gets a little confusing. I'm not quite sure what's under her either. Sand? It could be a little clearer.

I like the gradient sky though.

Your other tryout was a bit sloppy and not much was going on and there were similar proportional problems.

I say no. Work on those things a little more and come back. Though I do think the wait period to try out again is a little long. You're really close.

Tryout suggestions are probably okay though...
Liiike not telling someone to fix something, more like an idea for a clever background if they didn't know what to do.

Like if I were trying out and I didn't have any ideas for a bg, someone could say "BEING CARRIED AWAY BY FIREFLIES" or some other such nonsense.

I'm too lazy to do my usual crit, but the thing that stands out to me most is that right paw that seems way too long *~* In comparison to the other paw I mean. You could probably end it where you put the wrist. The muzzle seems a little long, too... :x

I think you also coulda put more shading to make it all DYNAMIC, and maybe did a more detailed background (even if you just did tones like your last one, a little more detail won't hurt).

But still, your wolves are great. I think you should be in :3 We need some other votes too plz >.<

This is really nice. I really adore the design. It's simple but well put together. I love those colors together. And those eyes are gorgeous. I can hardly stop looking at them.

I really like the pose too, and the paws. Your over-all canine anatomy looks pretty good, just keep it up.

Great use of tones in the background!

I reccomend varying the thickness of your lineart though alittle, it'll add more depth and shadow, which I would also like to see abit more in your next tryout. Don't be afraid to add DARK shadows, especcially with such a darkly colored background.

I love this pose *-* I can't pull of dynamic poses at all lol. There are a few things that could be improved though. Mainly the legs, I think. Legs are confusing tho xD The back legs seem to have kind of long... thighs? (lolwatstheword?) Like the right one has kind of an odd angle, and the back one just seem long, but that's probably just me >.<
He's also a bit skinny. I see a lot of people do this, and it may be a thing of style, but it looks meh xD
Not sure if it's intentional or not, but it also looks like he's missing an ear :x
I did a terrible redline, just for some help, but my anatomy isn't perfect either so don't rely too much on it ^^;

The pose also, especially if you flip it, looks kind of off-balanced, so I think the left back leg could be moved back a bit. :I

Also, on your coloring, I think you should've taken more time on it >: You say you rushed it, so... ^^; Taking the extra effort can make something look a lot better.
The coloring looks unconvincing because it all looks like it's on the same layer, blending into itself. I think you were trying for a fur effect, but it seems to go against the natural grain fur would go. The 'fur' also looks the same length throughout in the coloring, so try to vary it more next time. As Anne said, try to add in darker shades as well. It looks like you used the burn tool on the right back leg, but it's awkward with that being the only place *-*

Still, I love that pose, the main, and the creepy snarly-ness *u*;; The background tones look awesome too. Sorry if I sound harsh, but I like critting for some reason lol *-*;

Good luck on your next tryout! Don't be afraid to just safety save it for a while so you can take more time ;3 The effort pays off. (tho you'll prolly still get in xD)

Crits: Well, they're only nitpicky things. Like how you do ear-tufts; they're kinda... big xD It looks a little awkward. The yawn looks a little weird too... I think the jaw should be stretched a little more, and the tongue kept all the way in.
idk how to crit your paws D8 They're cool already~ Uhm... Maybe the front ones, in this sort of pose, I think pawpads would be fully on the ground, but idk ouo The fur on the back leg that shows it's separate from the body probably wouldn't have to go up so high in the front. I dunno about paws in general, but I think someone here had a good tutorial for them.
I love your coloring :3 The... er... the spotty effect? (idk what to call it D8) Is really fun and looks nice xD I think it would be cool if you cleaned it up a little though. <strike>Archive worthy maybe? D8 But I dunno what archive worthy is anymore Dx</strike> around the tail, particularly.

^^, lol, backgrounds were never mah strong points, but thank you all for the crits and complements... looking at that hind leg though, it is pretty high, lol, ^^;; I was so worried about making it a good effort that I didn't know where the lil'bumpkin's knee should have gone..

shoulda pulled out some anatomy books but I was in a groove. I'll try at a better background for the next one, I'm slowly realizing that a background is really another few layers in the picture lol... but... I'm so lazy.
but, I'll definitely work out my next one more.. I hope it'll come out nicer ^^;
<_< also... I kinda sorta.. hunted Mad out.. Mad's new too, I used to watch her stuff on an oekaki she used to be on. lol, it took some effort, but I found mad!

Oh, very nice job, one crit though is to try and not let the colors bleed, I see abit of blue and orange that got into the character from the BG.

Not quite sure how to crit the anatomy, since it's pretty good and I have no clue what a numbat is :>;

But I have some things on the coloring. It seems kind of rushed and really sketchy, which in some cases is fine, but like... on the main body it looks kind of weird :c (<-- my way to describe anything lol) It also doesn't seem to have that definite of a light source, with shadows on all sides in certail areas (mainly the head) and no to little shading on the back stripes.

The background's... really messy. But a lot of people have trouble with backgrounds, so you get points for the effort xP
I think next time you could look up some refs for the background, since it looks new to you, and you could take more time on it. The background is a part of the image too, so you should put just as much effort into it as you did the subject

My main tips on the background... Well, more texture, and more shadows. The way you shaded the sand makes it look water-like because of where highlights are, but you should remember that the sun hits nearly every part. Spread out the shading more next time~ And continue the highlights all the way through. You could try making the subject's layer invisible and working on the background alone to keep you focused. I don't get why there's a dark outline around the subject in the BG either *-*; Shading on the mountains (WHICH ARE REALLY ANNOYING TO MAKE ><) and the tree+rock would of been nice, too.

The sky you got half down. The blue fades from light to dark as it gets higher~ You should try putting more detail in clouds if you put them. Clouds even have shadows if you look at them

Though... I dun think there are clouds often in a desert setting...

I still like your subject and your lines, but as you're here, try to improve on your coloring. Look up references if you need to, and be patient! Little things like coloring out of the lines or missing spots can make a big difference in the result.
