Really happy with this. Used a general reference ref for the face but I changed it up a lot. This is mostly watercolor with a bit of pen outlining and airbrush to create a smooth sky and smooth some impossible watercolor lumps.

I love how the background fits the pose and character!
The eyes look like they're bleeding color, it would perhaps more look like glow if you had faded the lineart and used the dodge tool alittle more inside the eyes?
Also, I would like to see darker shadows to fit the darker background, it looks like you only used highlights?

this is niji again D:< why does weazie always do this to me! First it did it with Starsky, now it does it with Niji! Whenever I try to log in it says 'access is denied'. I know for sure I typed my password correct. Argh. D:<

raisin's the fursona i had before niji but i think I'm going back to her. Niji'll still be around, just won't be the character i use to represent myself. xD

The reason why it does that is if you have your browser remember your password, and you go in to change something on your profile, your browser will put in the password down where you change it, and if you don't delete it, the oekaki will think you're changing your password.

I like the cleaness of your lines, very nice, and the lighting is really soft.

Don't be afraid of shadows, darker shadows will bring out the highlights so much stronger. Also, incorporate the character into the background. We want to see the grass bent under his paws.

The sky is very pretty, I love the sky gradient you used, and the clouds are perfect, I like how they're lighter blue instead of white, gives it a very night feel.

Try researching muscle structure a little bit for tryout two! It can make your tryout look far more interesting.

Also the front paw closest to us shouldn't be turned towards as as much -- paws do turn inward as a dog is walking but that much. x3 On that same vein, the other paw should be turned in a little! Also, generally unless the animal is in full sprint, it will have at least one foot on the ground. It looks like he's trotting here.

Laaaastly unless it's one of the floppy-faced dogs I think the mouth is a little too low. Or if it is a floppy-faced dog then you wouldn't see the upper teeth, just the lower. x3

I like how you put movement in the image though, most tryouts I've seen on various oekaki is just the character sitting or standing there!

I don't completely agree with the redline, so I'll see if I can go into further detail when I have the time to do one myself...even though it probably won't be so great AHAH -cough-

Anyway, anatomy aside you're having trouble shading. Tones are a GREAT way to shade, but they, like anything else, take a while to master. It would've been just fine using tones alone for the breath, so the outline isn't really necessary, but that's just my personal preference so I'll uh...move on.
The way you shaded the subject is rather sloppy, and it's hard to tell where the light source is. As previously suggested, please try and study muscle structure for your next tryout. It should help you with shading.

Someone bought a design from me and one of the options after buying a design is to get a reference sheet from me for it!

This is a possum with lemur markings named FURBALL. He was fun until the continuity he was part of died, then he was boring. :'L I still love his design! Hopefully his new owner will take care of him.~

He doesn't really have a name, I just refer to him as walnut for conventionality's sake.

Anyway! A little dragon dude I've drawn everywhere for a long while. He's kinda my mascot or something. If I ever start watermarking my shit, he'd be the watermark. XD

I'll be continuing commissions after this assuming the oekaki stops being a jerk to me when I try to upload stuff. D:<
