Hello old beans.
I asked how many more votes I needed, and DW said wait a day or so for a change, so I did... and no change.
Tell me if I'm not good enough to be here though ;___;

This is a character I keep drawing.

Innnnnnnnn.
Your shading is lovely.
I'm not an expert on human anatomy, so I can't really crit, but...
the feet/legskinda bother me a little.
I wanna say too simplistic almost?
I'm not sure though.
I also really liked the colors you used throughout the whole picture as well :D
Good luck and hopefully someone can crit you better than me
XDDD

This is really cool, I like the pose.
Though it is a little awkward...The waist line bugs me a little, and the legs are a little off. they should "flow" more, so to speak. The fingers are very strange, on the hand to the right especially, but i realize there aren't too many references for poses like that, and hell, I can't do something like that lol. I really like the clothing folds and the coloring.

I would say In, but I'm not sure if I'm in or not lol

I -love- the colors you used and the sky looks awesome <33

I'm not good with human anatomy, but the fingers look pretty strange to me...I think the head looks a bit small, but like I said, I suck at human anatomy, harhar.

The shading kind of bugs me and the person and trees don't seem to be casting a shadow?
I also think some of the grass would come over the blanket, if you know what I mean. The blanket would probably be kind of crumpled where the person's hands are.

I'm sorry but I say out D=...I think you have a lot of potential, though.

nice, I love frogs <33
I really like this picture, especially the shading, but I don't like how the stomach looks, it's a little flat. I like the lineart though, good luck!

Ahh, awesome! Yay frogs x3

Crits...
The lilypad seems to be at a different angle than the frog, so the frog looks to be floating.
Very simple picture but that's just fine, I absolutely love it <33

Good luck!

What an interesting idea for a tryout. c:
I love this. But I'm not for one who likes solid lines with watercolors.

ShaoShao @ Friday, July 4th 2008, 9:15 PM
I think you need to give more thought to lighting. What parts of the lily pad and frog are caught in the light, what obscures the light and where does the light not reach because of that?

There are a number of areas where the shading feels inconsistent; you expect it to continue for the rest of a limb but it doesn't. Things like that. The best way to understand these things is often to look at real life examples, try shining a lamp down onto a toy animal and note how the shadows are formed. Move the light or toy about to see what happens. It's something we see every day but fail to really notice.

Where use of the oekaki applet is concerned, I think you could work on blending shades a bit better, or deciding how blended you want them. Are you aiming for soft or hard? With more gradual shades you'd expect soft, but the effect isn't so seamless when the beginning and end of different shades are so distinguishable.

Criticism aside, the lines are wonderfully smooth and neat with great tapering. I have no doubt that this skill will be a strong factor in whether you're accepted. Looking at your DA, I'd say I'd probably vote you in on your willingness to draw a variety of things and complete pictures as well. I hope everyone else feels the same. :3

(yeah, I suck at praise... sorry orz;;)
