I'm going to have to say out, sorry hon. :C

MUCH MUCH MUCH needed improvement from your last tryouts, but I don't think we're quite up to par yet.

I don't really have time to crit, I'll leave that to the others. :C

Edit: Gimme a sec, I'll redline for you

(Edited on February 28, 2009, 7:49 pm)

Edit: I redlined as best I could

I say you're ALMOST there. I'm still a little shaky with the standards here, but I can tell you're around the skill level.
Just a little more practice and you'll get in C:
(and listen to those guy's crits. they are seriously helpful if you really read them and consider what they're saying)

Alright, Thank you guys, for all your comments.
I'll practise some more, then try again some other time.

Loveless, I hope you realise how wrong that comment on anatomy in cartoon animals is.

if your cartooning you must know the rules in order to break them.

I was only trying to critique.

but i guess I won't mention about cartoon styles next time...

ShaoShao @ Tuesday, March 10th 2009, 2:39 PM
As Lenny said, even to create a cartoon you need to know the basics of anatomy. Unless it's abstract, a cartoon will have an anatomical structure to each living character.

It's perfectly acceptable to look at Disney and so on to understand how people depict aspects of real anatomy. It's not a substitute by far, but it does have real anatomy in its foundations. Saying otherwise is a falsity.

I hope I can re-tryout now..

Anyways, the infamous scene in Sonic the Hedgehog OVI (The movie) where Sonic and Metal bang heads, and Sonic says: "You might know everything I'm going to do, but that's not going to help you, since I know everything you're going to do! STRAAANGE, ISN'T IT!?"
It's sorta frozen in time...
ANYWAYS.

It was completely done in watercolours.
Exept the sketch and the lines which I erased.
Other than those, it was done in watercolour.

Comments and crits plzu? :3

I'm saying out, sorry :CC

Your shading is lovely on the eevee, the stump, and the mountains.Though I don't see why the sky should be shaded the way it is. During the day, the sky is normally the same shade of blue. If there's ever a different shade of blue in the middle of the day, it would either be because the sun is making the blue around it look brighter, or it gets brighter as it gets towards the horizon. Kind of like this:

http://www.mindscapesonline.com/catalog/images/24sun_and_sky.jpg
Of course, there's sunrise and sunset, but they normally look like this:

http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/sgf/wxphotos/sunsets/sunset.jpg
Ok, on to anatomy and stuff... A pokemon isn't really the best thing to draw in a tryout, because their anatomy is very stylized. Plus, you made it harder by hiding most of the body with the tail. I'll redline, because I'm no good with critting anatomy.
(or at least I think so gdgs)
http://op.weazie.com/Chill_Pill_Oekaki/pictures/170.png
The back shouldn't arch as much as you drew it, and the legs shouldn't really curled up as much either. (the back legs lol)
the front legs are to stiff looking. Plus, there's no paws. The eyes shoudn't be that big, and the face has no structure to it. the nise should be sticking out more than it is, ans the shading shouldn't do what it's doing on the face.
My advice to you right now, would be to look at pictures of real foxes or dogs (or whatever else yo want to draw) and try to draw it like it is in the picture. if the legs bend a certain way when in a certain position, then try to incorporate that into your drawings C:
Good luck~

ps, sorry if my crits seem harsh vgdfgd I'm no good at them, and I gotta get used to the intermediate board |D

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to say out.

The background is a bit plain, and the legs look to...'bent'? and he doesn't exactly have a neck, I can redline cause i don't have paint or anything, anyway, he should be a slight bit longer because he needs a ribcage etc.

And i think the shadings alright, but just needs some work.

Look at some dog pictures I guess, look at how they are, there legs, how long they are, try and catch those small helping tips you can find. Like paws, belly, neck, head, muzzle, etc. and do the same with backgrounds, try and find a good perspective within it.

Ohwell,I don't mind. I'll just have to wait a while 'till i'm a teen,then I MIGHT gain a little bit of skillz. ^^ Then I MIGHT try again. :/

Actually,I see what you meen with the legs, though I only see it in the front...

I'm not accepted yet, but I think this is awesome.
In your next tryout maybe try using textures in the background and stuff. You don't have too, of course, but I'm just trying to give you dumb little tips to try and help. xD; /fail
Good luck. :D

Voodoo @ Friday, August 29th 2008, 5:14 PM
Hello, welcome to WOI C: I'm Voodoo, an admin at WOA.

It appears that you've used a more stylized approach, making it more chibi-ish, but the most important thing to remember in this style bones and joints sitll have to look natural. Here, the legs seem to bend like elastic annd that is not the case in vertebrate animals such as this canine. The head appears a bit large, and there doesn't seem to be a neck to support it, as it just rests on the shoulders.

Dog's eyes are focused more on the front of the head, and you dred the eye somewhat too far to the side. From the angle they look like kind of a "pizza slice" if the shape is simplified.

Here, I made you a redline, I hope it helps c:

http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k400/chiefrabbit/dairl.png

As for coloring I see a few color leaks aroudn the edge. But good luck!
