Playing around more.
Maybe we can make the W into a check mark inside the O?

Man, who picked the name "Weazie" lmao; jayykayy~.

ah i like these a bit more but i still feel like theyre too sharp I guess?

i do rather like the one on the right but its just still a very sharp look i guess?

I'm probably totally not using the right word here, i just cant think of a better word than "sharp" at the moment lmao

but i hope you know what i mean? xD

Detective Wolf @ Saturday, September 21st 2013, 2:35 AM

I think there's a lot of emphasis on 'Weazie' and not enough on 'oekaki'
idk it's probably bc 'weazie' is really big, while 'oekaki' is smaller in comparison??
The one on the right is my fav out of the bunch, probably bc of the placement/overlaying of the W and O, it reads better for me (idk the ones on the left the W&O look like an upisde down man in a turtleneck+jacket?? idk I don't understand what I'm saying anymore sorry)... but I digress I think the oekaki part is too small

darkvine @ Saturday, September 21st 2013, 2:35 AM
yea i do like the top right a lot but i'd have to agree it still seems a bit too formal for the oekaki?

Moo @ Saturday, September 21st 2013, 4:03 AM

ahhh i think i figured out what i meant

like its not really the SHARP look per se its just that it doesnt flow?

which isnt necessarily a bad thing but i think with what we're looking for we want something loose and fun, but what you have here is a bit tight and straight and sharp and all?

like for real i really do like the one on the right a lot but it just doesnt really fit with what we're looking for

I do like the top right, the spacing between the letters is nice?? but it still feels really formal (reminds me of ummm a magazine or s/t for some reason?) I don't personally mind the emphasis on 'weazie' but yeah idk I'm still more for developing julia or heather's ideas further (leaning towards heather's just bc basing it on an image makes it a little more versatile I think?? idk)

I think these are a really good starting point??
idk I messed around for a bit in photoshop to work off of this format and this is what I got (http://i.imgur.com/1cqGRUu.png)

I think the originals are def a good introduction, which is good so we can build on it?? Idk but I went from like... more ""business"" to a more ""fun"" look as I went through... I tried a bunch of fonts too but I'm not sure what kind of "feel" we're going for so I tried to include a sorta range for us to kinda decide?? I hope these aren't too lame gomen I'm not one of them fancy typographists lol
I also tried to include the colors we picked out for the themes too idk we need some color in our lives...
idk this is just some of my ideas sorry

DW- I really like the added the color! My two favorite options of your is the purple/pink WOA and the bottom left Weazie Spam(I love the positive/negative space gahhh<3) You actually made serifs look fun--props to you.

Jazzy @ Tuesday, September 17th 2013, 10:41 AM
I don't think these really suit...weazie's atmosphere I guess? I've always thought this place was really laid back and friendly but these logos are too 'professional' looking, especially with no colour and such a neutral font!

I agree with Arf, I really like the pink/purple logo Julia did! I like the two blue ones at the very top right too. These definitely fit weazie a lot better imo!

Jazzy @ Tuesday, September 17th 2013, 12:37 PM
By the way, I was in touch with Matt for a while over his new oekaki host, and there was some problem with it he had to fix, but I haven't heard from him since? Do you know if there's been any progress?

Absolutely love the color ideas there DW :D all of them....

yeah i agree w/ the others, weazie is super colloquial and these seem a little too formal?? colour is definitely a must i think....

>We need a solid logo before color you guys! Color can only ENHANCE a well developed logo.

I definitely agree with the more "fun" feel though;
I went through so many fonts... Baskerville is always just a favorite :D .

@Detective Wolf - these are great! The one on the far right is BY FAR my favorite (the WO in 2 different greens). What font is it? I'm going to play around with this idea. I'm not a fan of any free fonts or 'too' fun of fonts.

& THANK YOU for contributing! The more the merrier everyone! Keep this ideas coming so we can put some wheels on this reface~.

@Detective Wolf - Sorry, however I haven't had as much time as I wished to work on the project.

I discovered a few security holes in the oekaki hosting site that would lead it vulnerable to attacks. These all have to be addressed before I can launch. At this time there is no estimate on when I can patch the site.

This is unrelated to the original post, so if you have further questions/comments please feel free to PM me or contact me via my e-mail, which I believe you have.

- Matt

oh gosh i kinda thought we established we were gonna keep all the updating talk to the intermediate board but whoops ok lol

anyway I do agree with what everyone else has said in that these are very formal looking and not really fitting for the overall mood of the oekaki? We're not a strictly professional oekaki, we wanna give off the vibe that we're fun n flirty wink wonk (minus the flirty probably? maybe?)

But yeah I also really love the pink/purple and bottom left design from julia!!!

Also a quick question; were you really busy over the summer? I'm just wondering really just cause you mentioned doing these like three months ago I kind of thought you forgot about it lol.... Glad to see you didn't forget though!

Moo @ Friday, September 20th 2013, 5:23 AM

also lets not forget it is very much possible to just do hand drawn logos as well! doesnt have to be ALL font :3 I mean we're not gonna be using the logo for anything other than plastering it onto the oekaki itself, like we're not gonna be doing much in the way of getting it printed or put anywhere else, so a neat and tidy hand drawn logo could work just as well?

darkvine @ Friday, September 20th 2013, 2:34 PM
super quick two cents. I agree it's too formal, not quite enough color for the lax/fun nature of the oekaki and text would be nice with a hand drawn bit? those just seem to feel better for an oekaki

Toasteh @ Friday, September 20th 2013, 2:41 PM

yeah I'm kinda w/ everyone that these don't really suit weazie that much? I always think serif fonts look really formal while we're uh...really....not........and the lack of variation kinda gives off that vibe too? I realize we're not some business but you gotta be aware of the image you're projecting you know effective marketing and all that shit. I don't mind the lack of color as much bc yeah like you said, the basics gotta come first (and I assume they'd change to match w/e board they went with right? so color isn't rly needed at this point lol)

julia's on the right track I think!! ummmm out of julia's I'm kinda partial to the font/layouts of those blue/green ones at the top right, I like the purple/pink one but I'm not sure if I like the font itself? the thickness of the letters is almost a little confusing to read to me idk sdgfdsg but the placement works for me I think, though yeah definitely more partial to those blue/green ones, if junko or anyone else wants to develop any of these ideas further I think those would be the ones I'd go with?

also I like the idea of a hand made font tbh, like?? if someone made a font of their handwriting that might look nice?? also gomen if this is just parroting everyone else sdfdsgdsg BUT YEAH THERE U GO

Detective Wolf @ Friday, September 20th 2013, 5:33 PM

I agree w/ the hand drawn logos/fonts?? idk I think mainly because a hand drawn one is like, a sure fire way to avoid that "super formal business card" look that just... does not belong in an oekaki...
