OK YEAH GUYS REALLY SORRY FOR SPAM BUTTTTTTTTTT.....

like my laptop is infested with spyware and has a trojan lol so I'm not gonna have it til my dad fixes it and idk when that'll be

and i'm using my sister'sl laptop atm right now lol but I can't do that all the time. I'm gonna check the boards every day in the mornings at school and try to comment, but there won't be many pics from me til school gets out lol :B

now I get openoffice notifying me saying something's trying to change my personal settings, and another two popups saying that these two DLL files failed to run. And it only happens once as soon as I turn the laptop on so it's all good C:

Ok, I have an announcement, if you haven't already read the notice.

I revamped the rules, and I would like you all as a community to tell me what you think should be vetoed and what should stay. If you have any suggestions, please tell me.

I'll modify the rules for the Beginner and Intermediate boards later, and add info on archives, but right now my hands are really tired ):

I think we might need to go into further detail regarding uploading priviledges. Idk, maybe only allowing X amounts of uploads a week? Just a personal preference, I guess, but it's one thing to have pictures bumped off of the front page because of oekaki-drawn pictures and another to have pictures bumped off of the front page because someone wants to edit a photograph. I think it also needs to be noted that uploading access is not to be used as a bump.
I personally think that if someone wants something uploaded, they should have an admin do it, but we're still a pretty small community so it shouldn't be a problem at the moment.

And YES, the rules at the other boards should be updated as well. I think maybe when school's out we should edit the front pages as well. Maybe make the rules stand out a little more, you know?
Or maybe have a basic synopsis of rules under the welcome message, followed by "For more information, click here" or something like that.

Yes, I think the uploading thing is a good idea, specifying how people can't just spam up the board with stupid pictures of themselves and stuff (lol bailey). I was going to add more to that because i thought it was kind of vague too.

also, yeah, it's kind of hard to spend so much time on the oekaki and the banners, layouts, etc. when there's school and irl matters and stuff, but we definitley will.

also, can you admins please update the 'upcoming events' and 'current events'? so far i've been the only one whose been doing that lol.

yeah as long as it's not TOO excessive (like the 'f' word as every other word in a sentence) and do like explicit comments of like graphic descriptions of sex and whatnot.

i don't really consider language as big as an issue as the pictures itself, like if someone draws porn or something that'll be a lot more um, shocking than seeing a few cuss words.

I think the language policy in the beginner board will be a bit tighter since there's a lot younger kids on there. Most of us in the advanced board are a bit older.

should we restrict uploads to admins only or are we going to give people upload access like we've been doing
cause quite frankly that's really what admins do besides bumping since there's really not that much drama

I think we should allow uploading access only to admins for now, since the community is so small, and we don't want any potential problems. It might be a problem if someone needs an upload but no admins are on but I guess they can wait and be patient.

However, I think we should wait and see what everyone else thinks since only me and all you guys, who are also admins, have been discussing this lol.

As for the admin meetings, I think yes, the administrators should meet as a council to regulate things and maybe make some changes, but I don't think those changes should be final until we propose them to the community. I want it to be more of a democratic approach, and not just a council of admins who makes all the decisions for the general users. That's in my opinion, quite controlling.

I think we should let every accepted member have upload access, and give them warnings if they seem to be abusing it, we could always suspend upload access for people who are uncooperative.
The main reason I really liked this oekaki over SRO is the upload access, since usually I'd be too hesitant to ask someone else to upload something for me.

Edit: I just noticed the 20 Min time rule. That's going to be hard to enforce at first, but we'll see right?

I see what you mean, Anne. A lot of people who omail me to bump tryouts or ask for uploading access seem really hesitant and timid, like they are intimidated by the admins. It would be quite convenient, I just don't want people to abuse the privilege, well, we'll enforce that I guess.

As for the time limit, I wanted people to maybe take a little more time on their pictures and make them a little nicer than just quick sketches, I mean, those are OK too but this is an advanced board and we need to set an example of what that means. If it doesn't really work we'll set the time limit back to 15.

And no Laurz, I think the people who already have uploading access should keep it as long as they a.) need it, and b.) don't abuse it. Because it would be pointless to let everybody have UA if they never use it right? Of course it wouldn't be a good thing if they only uploaded, nothing else.

I'm with Anne about the 20 minute thing I feel guilty because it was hard for me to even keep to the 15 minute rule xD;

And with the uploading stuff, I have uploading access but I don't use it all that much. If people abuse it then I think it should be taken away, but not given out to the general public unless it's been requested, if someone goes out of their way to ask I don't think they'd be all "lol cool I can upload stuff" and go overboard with that power.
I dunno I'm not very formal with stuff gjklg

ah, thank goodness, we needed clarification on the rules. I think we should have another admin meeting soon, and if we do, could someone please o-mail me? My week has been stressful and hectic, as will the rest of this week for me.. so my computer 'liesure' time is limited fir the time being. (We also need to edit the beginner board's rules)
--oh and yeah, i had suggested MOTW a long time ago, adn she ok'd it.. but it only lasted for a week, adn she replaced it with contest of the week.. which is gone now too.

ok then, it looks as if it's leaning towards normal members having upload access. People here aren't the kind that are difficult when it comes to following the rules, so i don't think we'll have a problem with uploading privileges being abused.

@Arf : I am going to make a version of the rules to fit the beginner and intermediate boards later today. As for the cotw/motw, we might want to start something like that again, since there's more admins now and we can all take turns managing it.

also, yeah this is a very apparent problem but the intermediate board is really inactive, as is the advanced (kind of, compared to WOB). for that to change then there would need to be more regular active members in all the boards. of course, it's almost the end of the school year and we're all busy, which may explain the inactivity, but there has been a drop in activity. The advertising campaign kind of failedlol, so i think we should just maybe invite our friends to join who may be interested or such.

UGH BUT I STILL HAVE THE PEN PROBLEM whenever I try to make a stroke everything comes out choppy and it stops too late. I read on 2Draw Wiki what explained my problem, cos I have Vista:

In Vista, one possible problem is that the start of every stroke you make is choppy. This may be caused by pen flicks and "tap-and-hold." You can disable these in the Control Panel in "Pen and Input Devices."

I like...disabled pen flicks but I still have the problem
And it makes it really frustrating to draw aughhh

Look closely at the drawingand you'll see crooked tiny 1px lines every which way caused by that.

i've hardly used it so i probably will for a while...

does anyone have this problem? When I try to do a stroke with the pen it gets really choppy and stops too late. anyone know how to fix it?

shi painter pro uber lags on me so usually I never finish my stuff I make with it :I

at least not completely in the program.

Sometimes/most of the time the pen pressure button refuses to work. Or the box with all the options wont open anything after I open pen pressure. But it will still close boxes, which makes it a PAIN. = A =
I only like shi painter pro for the layers...but they don't quite make up for all the lagg and I usually don't end up using them anyways.

I have to open all the boxes beforehand and hope i don't accidentally close them.

It doesn't just do it with the pen tool...it's with all the brushes, even the eraser. I guess it's something about pen flicks idk.

I like the textures in Pro but I guess i'll just use shipainter.
